when did the world turn expensive?

Last night I went to the cinema, for a student ticket and a small soft drink it cost me £8.60. I personally think that is a scandalous amount of money. It got me thinking at what point in time did everything get so expensive? Was it a gradual thing or did it just happen over night?

    it is I earn an ok wage as a nurse and it doesn't seem to stretch very far

    Hi!
    I agree, I can't afford the cinema these days, I wait for the special offers, sometimes watch a kids film with my daughter in the mornings for 95p! (vue) That's good value! I wish they were all that price.
    Everything seems pricey at the mo!
