What the postman bought me 18

The postman brought me this beautiful blanket for my fur baby Angel. It was crocheted by a friend's mum. I love that it is personalised for Angel I can imagine Angel in the cattery telling the other cats to get their paws off her blanket. I asked for the blanket to be done in pinks and purples because I have a deep down desire for Angel to be a girly cat, but she is not she is defiantly a tomboy. If she was human she'd be out playing football with lads and climbing trees. I think her elegance and beauty are very deceiving!

Pleasant surprise

After what i thought to be a disastrous job interview with NHS Direct two weeks ago, i finally got a call to say that i had been successful. It just goes to show that you ever can tell these things.
I am now house/flat hunting in Wakefield, but am having trouble finding somewhere that lets you have pets. Ive got two months to find something!

Bargains of the day

Two great charity shop finds. First of all a bottle of Marks and Spencers Magnolia bubble bath for 50p, what a bargain! I love the stuff, leaves my skin all lovely and soft. Secondly a Crab Tree &Evelyn rose gift set for 99p! I was very exited when i saw this on the shelve. I have to admit I am a bit of a snob, I like expensive toiletries (well ok when i can find them cheap in charity shops). I Particularly like Crabtree &Evelyn because it is so ...floral! When it comes to scents I love any type of floral scent, apart from Lavender (is lavender a plant or a flower?) I am rather fond of rose, if there is any beauty product with rose in the title I will buy it. Which I must ashamedly admit when I was younger I associated Rose or any flowery scents as for old ladies. I hold my hand up and say how wrong I was. Rose Rocks!!!!!!!!!!

Tru Calling seasons 1 and 2

http://http//www.imdb.com/title/tt0364817/ I watched both seasons over a couple of weeks and was completely hooked! I really love anything to do with the supernatural and thought this was an interesting take on the genre. The morgue worker who is spoken to by the dead asking for help to solve there murders (I wonder if it ever happens!) I loved all of the actors and actresses. I thought they all geld really well and it was great to see my childhood crush Jason Priestly again, looking better then ever! The cases she solved was not predictable, as many American shows are, they always had me guessing. Tru also lived in an eclectic and stunning apartment, which had me glued as I have a bad case of apartment envy.

It is such a shame that this has been cancelled after 2 seasons, there was plenty of life left in the show, no pun intended!

Monster

This book is all about the Josef Fritzal, his early life and his later imprisonment of his daughter in the cellar and her treatment at the hands of her father. I found this book really well written and interesting. It does not sensationalize him or his crimes, it explores possible causes in a balanced way. One question that the book leaves you with is why the so many child abuse/imprisonment cases in Austria?

Look At Me

http://http//www.imdb.com/title/tt0374583/ The story had so much potential i.e. big daughter, successful dad, struggling artists etc. But as a story it did very little for me, it failed to move me or make me laugh. As a story i found it so bland. But on a positive note it was set in Paris an the French countryside. So I was glued to the sights, the food, the clothes, the apartments and the wine. There is something bout French films and the French culture that when it is bad it is till very good.

Maybe it means I am destined for a apartment in Paris to spend my days people watching

Mighty oaks and acorns spring to mind.

What the postman brought me 17

The postman kindly delivered to me Prison Break Season 1. I ever got around to watching it when it was on TV. I am thinking of something intelligent to say but cant think so I'll tell the truth. Bought it to see lots of hot men in prison.

when did the world turn expensive?

Last night I went to the cinema, for a student ticket and a small soft drink it cost me £8.60. I personally think that is a scandalous amount of money. It got me thinking at what point in time did everything get so expensive? Was it a gradual thing or did it just happen over night?

What the post me brought me 16

Well, he really brought this parcel for Angel. It is a toy bag crochet by a kind lady's mum from the Your Cat forum. I really like the colours on this bag. I didn't realise that pink, purple, white and yellow go together so well. I love that she personalised, stitching her name on it.It really makes me want to take up knitting and crocheting but i don't have a arty creative bone in my body! well apart from cross stithing, but it never turns out neat. I often wonder what it is about me that neatness hates?

Bargains

Another trip to the charity shop, another interesting buy. This time my purchase was £1.99 and from Oxfam. It is a book called The Book for the Home, which was published in 1963. The main reason i bought it was to get some inspiration/ideas for he tips pages in magazines. I have had a glance through it and looks like a bible for the proud house owner. With advice on everything from how to store your household linen to budgeting your weekly allowance. As i flick through the pages I am filled with a sadness, almost longing for that bygone era that I never knew but would love to have been apart of.

Bargain of th day

I found this colourful bracelet in the Barnardo's shop for 69p. It is no my normal style of jewellery, as I a bit of a plain Jane but I just couldn't leave it in the shop. There is no 'markings' on the bracelet, so I don't know were it is from and who made it. The romantic in me wishes it was made by some struggling artist trying to earn crust but in reality it was probably made in some sweat shop in India!

An Officer And A Gentleman

http://http//www.imdb.com/title/tt0084434/ This is one of those films I have never gotten around to watching. It hooked me from the very first poignant scene in the brothels and bars of the Philippines. I could take my eyes off the screen for a second!I can not review this film with out mentioning how good Richard Gere looked as a younger man, i was certainly pleasantly surprised. He also acted really well, he made me cry with his reactions to his friend Sids suicide and his steely determination towards succeeding in his career. My only fault in this film is that I did not like the female characters in the film. Mainly because I cant relate to women who marry or seek out men for status. Overall a fantastic way to spend 122 minutes of my life.

Very Proud

Today I am very proud of myself, after a terrible job interview, bad toothache and a bad stomach, to see a letter I wrote to Woman's Weekly published. The letter was a thank you letter for mentioning www.readitswapit.co.uk, in an article about saving money. It is also my first paid piece of writing! OK so i cant exactly retire on £10, but that's not the point. I see letter writing as serving an apprenticeship on hopefully a long writing career.

Bargain of the day

I bought these cute Marks and Spencer's earrings from the Barnardos charity shop for 50p. I thought they was very cute. I had to buy them as a reminder to myself of how views and opinions change with time and age. The reason why I say/write this is because when I was a kid I used to hate Marks and Spencer's thinking it was a shop for old Lady's and snobs. But now a great deal of my clothes come from Marks and Spencer's, particularly love the t-shirts so comfy and long lasting. Marks and Spencer's have a perfume called Florentyna, which smells like floral heaven to me. The food, again can not be faulted in my opinion. Always tasty and yummy!

My first short story

Well about two weeks ago I wrote my first ever short story. It is the tale of a jealous bridesmaid and her antics at her friends wedding. I really enjoyed the process of writing it and it was easier than i imagined it to be. I sent it off to my tutor and I thought he would say it is pants, but he said he loved it and there was a few grammatical tweaks be made. But he said I should send it to Take a break or Bella for publication. It is amazing what a bit of positive feedback can do to keep you moving in the pursuit of writing ambitions.
